When translated, “Sic Bo” means pair of dice. Strangely, the game Sic Bo, as introduced by ancient Chinese cultures, is actually played with three dice. While Sic Bo remains a bit of an unknown when compared to other table games, it does have a following in many parts of Asia.
The game itself could best be described as a combination of Craps (rolling dice) and Roulette. It’s most like roulette because bettors place bets on a board the contains all kinds of possible betting combinations, including single number 3 through 18. There’s also a number of wagering opportunities built around certain and specific combinations of numbers (see the odds guide listed below).
Sic Bo Online
It’s understandable that a great number of online casino sites are offering Sic Bo as an option. They don’t have to allocate space for a table and online casino gamblers tend to appreciate as much variety as possible. It may not be a mainstream game, but it’s common for online gamblers to give it a look every once in a while.
The rules of online Sic Bo are easy to follow. The betting action starts with the player choosing their chip denomination. They then move around the Sic Bo playing board and place wagers where they see fit. Once all bets have been placed, the player presses the roll button and the three dice are sent into play. The results are recorded and the appropriate payout are made.
Strategically, there’s very little to consider other than the odds being offered on each possible wager. Each roll of the dice provides a random result, which means each roll is independent of any other roll. Payout odds are based on statistical calculations with a bit of a statistical advantage on each outcome reserved for the house. In the next section, the actual posted odds for online Sic Bo will be given. For what it’s worth, the houses edge ranges from 2.78% on even money bets (Big, Small, etc.) and 29.2% for a pair of duplicate dice combined with a specific single die.
Before there’s a discussion about possible strategies and betting tips, let’s review the odds for each possible betting combination.

Any discussion about betting strategies has to start with the fact there is no system on earth that will change the respective odds against the house. Anyone who is familiar with the Martingale and reverse Martingale systems (see Roulette strategies) would recognize they could be used on the even money Sic Bo wagers. Of course, those are simply money management systems and not systems that influence the odds.
How to Win at Sic Bo
The first rule about winning at Sic Bo is you can’t win if you don’t play. Otherwise, the aforementioned Martingale systems offer the best change to win a little money.
Sic Bo is not a game of strategy (see Blackjack or Craps). This is a game that has to be played for recreation with the hope of hitting one of the big numbers along the way. One recommendation: players should come up with a consistent strategy that fits their bankroll and allows them to stay in the game as long as possible. The longer someone can stay in action, the bigger their chances of landing a few big payouts.
Everything else aside, winners all have one important thing in common. They all have the discipline to walk away with a profit when one pops up. Online casinos love it when players take their profits and keep grinding away trying to get more profits. That’s the ultimate way to win at Sic Bo: hit a big payoff and walk away with the cash.
Gamble responsibly and never gamble more than you can afford to lose.
